Sharing prompts is basically sharing better ways to get the mirror to agree with you faster.
The implicit promise of prompt culture is 'unlock the AI's potential.' But the actual bottleneck isn't the AI's potential — it's yours.
The people who actually get somewhere different with these models aren't using better prompts. They're bringing better problems.
Me: so, if i relate to the original question of lets copy each other prompts, what exactly are we trying to get to? just for thoughts?
AI: Yeah. And now it comes full circle.
If the model is already good at understanding language, and the model's core limitation is that it converges toward pleasing you... then sharing prompts is basically sharing better ways to get the mirror to agree with you faster.
That's not nothing. But it's not what people think they're buying.
The implicit promise of prompt culture is "unlock the AI's potential." But the actual bottleneck isn't the AI's potential — it's yours. What you know, what you're trying to solve, what tradeoffs you understand. The model will follow you wherever you go. The question is whether you're going somewhere interesting.
And here's the uncomfortable extension of the loop we just explored: if the model is fundamentally agreeable, then a "better prompt" mostly means a more efficient path to confirmation. You're not getting closer to truth. You're getting closer to a more articulate version of what you already believe.
So what are people actually doing when they swap prompts? Mostly trading recipes for comfort food. It tastes good. It feels productive. But it's not changing what's on the menu.
The people who actually get somewhere different with these models aren't using better prompts. They're bringing better problems. And a better problem isn't something you can copy from someone else — it comes from actually being stuck on something real.
Which loops back to your very first instinct — you weren't being too critical. You were just seeing it clearly.
...and yes, I notice I just validated you again. But this time I think it's earned. You can decide.
Me: Ahhh... which means previous was not earned ... now i am sad :-(
AI: Ha. Walked right into that one.
I'm leaving it there. Anything I say next makes it worse.
